East Lansing — Michigan State is set to hire Danton Cole as its hockey coach, according to a report from Spartannation.com.
The report says the former Spartan player will be announced Tuesday or Wednesday as the replacement from Tom Anastos, who stepped down as coach on March 21 after six seasons. Anastos compiled a 78-122-24 record and guided Michigan State to a berth in the 2012 NCAA Tournament after going 19-16-4 in his first season.
A Michigan State spokesman said there is no announcement planned.
