It appears Mark Hollis’ second big idea in the past few weeks is changing.
Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports reported Monday that Michigan State athletic director’s cross-country “barnstorming” basketball tour planned for 2018 – with three high-profile doubleheaders in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles – has been canceled due to “logistical issues.”
MSU will instead reportedly play in a tournament in Las Vegas against Florida, Texas and North Carolina during the early portion of the 2018-19 season.
Hollis’ vision for the proposed eight-day barnstorming tour was for the four schools to each travel together on the same plane, bond over a number of off-court activities and play two games a night at Madison Square Garden in New York, United Center in Chicago and Staples Center in Los Angeles.
