Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy is blasting the handling of today’s court hearing for former Michigan State basketball star Mateen Cleaves, calling it a “back door arraignment.”
Cleaves, who appeared in court in Flint this morning, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman last year in a motel near Flint. He was charged Tuesday with multiple felony counts related the alleged incident that prosecutors say took place after he met the woman at a charity golf outing.
Cleaves' arraignment was originally set for Thursday, but it happened this morning in 67th District Court in Flint instead, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.
