East Lansing — Michigan State linebacker Tyriq Thompson was arrested for a misdemeanor noise violation after hosting a party at his East Lansing residence that police estimated was attended by 200-300 people.
According to a report from the East Lansing Police Department through a Freedom of Information Act request, officers decided to detain Thompson, because of “lackluster” attempts to end the party after officers responded to complaints about the noise. Thompson's name is redacted from the report.
Police were called to the residence just before midnight on Sept. 1 and approached Thompson on the front lawn while estimating about 100 people were outside the house and loud music was playing.
