Players know they must match foes' intensity

EAST LANSING -- They’ve talked about it constantly and they’ve experienced it to some extent in the past, but it’s different this season: Michigan State is still getting used to being “the game” for each opponent on the schedule.

The Spartans are ranked No. 2 in both polls and 4-0 entering Saturday’s homecoming game against Purdue (1-3), yet the question/answer tone after all but a Sept. 12 win over then-No. 7 Oregon has been heavy on the “What’s wrong?”

“We want to play our best ball each week, we want to keep getting better,” junior middle linebacker Riley Bullough said after Saturday’s 30-10 win over Central Michigan.
