Justin Layne’s decision to skip Michigan State football’s bowl game proved a good one.
The cornerback, who left the Spartans in December to train for the NFL draft, was selected in the third round by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 83rd pick of the draft on Friday.
Layne’s selection extends MSU’s streak in the NFL draft to 79 years, including all 52 since the modern draft began in 1967.
