RPOs are all the rage in football, and have Pat Fitzgerald fired up, too.
And while the complaint from Northwestern's defensive-minded coach may be legit, the analogy he used Tuesday sails wide left and makes him a bit uneducated.
More and more offenses are employing Run-Pass Option plays (RPOs), which give the quarterback the choice of handing the ball off, running it himself or throwing a pass. Offensive linemen can wind up bending the rules a bit to execute it.
So Fitzgerald is clearly anti-RPO (even though his team runs them) ... and not a fan of Karl Marx, either?
