With Michigan State playing Notre Dame in South Bend on Saturday following a three-year hiatus, it is fitting that the rivalry — which dates back to 1897 — will be renewed a half century after the undefeated teams battled in one of the most famous, bone-crushing games in college football history that ended in a controversial 10-10 tie.
