Observations on Saturday's Ohio State-Rutgers game by Joey Kaufman:
The game at hand
• Short-attention span synopsis: An annual beatdown of Rutgers. But no quick-strike offense. A scoring onslaught lacked the passing flavor in favor of a bowling ball back. The biggest fireworks came late from that little sideline skirmish.
• Pregame buzz: Time for a change of scenery? The Buckeyes were playing a fifth straight game at Ohio Stadium, matching their longest-ever homestand after also playing five in a row at the Horseshoe in 2003 and 1999. A meeting with an oft-overmatched Big Ten East bottom dweller wasn’t to add any more anticipation, either.
