Notes: Will Demetrious Cox stay at safety?

EAST LANSING – If RJ Williamson can shake off his right leg injury and play for No. 2 Michigan State in Saturday’s homecoming game against Purdue, the Williamson-Demetrious Cox starting safety tandem could make its debut.

Cox’s versatility has allowed him to play well this season at cornerback, but he was switched to free safety in Saturday’s 30-10 win vs. Central Michigan to replace the struggling Montae Nicholson. That along with junior Darian Hicks’ impressive second half at cornerback could yield a long-term secondary of Hicks and Arjen Colquhoun at the corners, with Cox and Williamson at safety.
