Notes: MSU's goal-line defense in fine form early on

EAST LANSING -- As soon as Air Force receiver Jale Robinette changed direction, Chris Frey knew.

The Spartans expected trickery. It was fourth-and-goal from the Michigan State 3 with the Spartans leading, 35-14, and what had been a four-touchdown lead was in danger of being cut in half with 13:51 left. They just didn’t know what it would be.

But when Frey, MSU’s No. 2 “money” linebacker, saw Robinette turn back after going in motion past quarterback Karson Roberts, he could see Robinette was about to get the ball.

“From where I was at on the field, I could see the full play develop,” Frey said.
