East Lansing – Michigan State tuned up for its trip West by rolling past Eastern Michigan, 89-65, on Monday at the Breslin Center.
The game was part of the Wooden Legacy tournament, the event No. 3 Michigan State will play in beginning Thursday in Anaheim, Calif.
Five players scored in double-figures, including sophomore Javon Bess, who followed a career-best 16 points three nights ago with 13 points, and six rebounds while shooting 9-for-12 from the free-throw line. Freshman Deyonta Davis led the Spartans (4-0) with a career-high 16 points while senior Bryn Forbes added 12 points on 3-for-4 shooting from 3-point range.
