East Lansing — The older he gets, the better his vision, as odd as it sounds. And it’s in the dark where Michigan State’s Brian Lewerke notices the acuity now, sitting by himself in the quarterback room studying game film at the Skandalaris Football Center. He turns the lights off, turns the music up, and with his notebook ready, Lewerke presses play.
“I remember two years ago — even some last year — I was like, ‘I don’t even really know what I’m looking at,’” said Lewerke, the Spartans’ junior quarterback and offensive captain. “I’d tell (quarterbacks coach Brad) Salem, ‘I want to watch film, and I want to know what I’m looking at, but I just don’t right now.
