EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State forward Nick Ward has been named Big Ten Player of the Week as well as Big Ten Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. Ward averaged 21.0 ppg, 9.0 rpg and shot .680 from the field in leading the Spartans to wins over Nebraska and No. 16 Wisconsin.
Ward becomes the first Spartan freshman to earn Big Ten Player of the Week honors since Delvon Roe on Feb. 16, 2009. He is the first Big Ten freshman to earn Player of the Week honors this season.
