Connor Heyward turned heads in his renaissance season, showcasing his blunt-force blocking and sure-handed receiving skills.
The former Michigan State running back-turned-tight end provided scouts a blueprint for his NFL future, and it earned him a spot in his family’s long pro football lineage.
The Pittsburgh Steelers took Heyward with the 208th pick of the sixth round in the NFL draft on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Heyward is the third Spartan taken in the draft, the most since they had five taken in 2016.
He becomes the third member of his immediate family to be drafted into the NFL.
