EAST LANSING – One week after playing its best game of the season, Michigan State took a huge step backward on Friday night.
The positives from the Spartans’ 3-2 overtime win against Michigan last Friday at Joe Louis Arena were nowhere to be found at Munn Arena as Penn State controlled the game from start to finish and handed Michigan State a 6-1 defeat in the opener of a Big Ten series.
The Spartans early this week stressed the importance of winning battles for the puck all over the rink, and being difficult to play against.
