DETROIT – Without question, it was the best moment of a very frustrating season.
When senior forward Matt DeBlouw’s one-timer on from just inside the top of the right circle rocketed off the left post and into of the net to give Michigan State a 3-2 overtime victory over Michigan on Friday night at a rockin’ Joe Louis Arena, Spartan players celebrated along the right wing boards like in no other game this year.
Or maybe even last year.
In a season of uneven performances, one-sided losses, bad puck luck and solid efforts that turned into late defeats, Michigan State finally got rewarded for its strong, energetic effort.
