NCAA tournament: MSU a No. 2 seed vs. Middle Tennessee

INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA selection committee has spoken and Michigan State (29-5) will start out as a No. 2 seed in the Midwest region, opening Friday against Middle Tennessee (24-9) in St. Louis.

If MSU wins, it would play Sunday against the winner of No. 7 seed Dayton (25-7) and No. 10 Syracuse (19-13).

Kansas, North Carolina, Virginia and Oregon were named No. 1 seeds. Virginia is the top seed in the Midwest and could be an Elite Eight matchup for MSU. The Spartans beat the Cavaliers last year in the second round when Virginia was a No.
