Jimmy Raye quarterbacked Michigan State to a national championship in 1966 and helped break down racial barriers.
This fall, he will be honored among the greatest Spartans of all-time.
Raye is one of five inductees in the Michigan State Athletics Hall of Fame's 2018 class, the university announced Tuesday afternoon. He is joined by Dale Anderson (wrestling), Savatheda (Fynes) Coke (track and field), Rachel Miller (rowing) and Bill Wehrwein (track and field). All five will be inducted during a ceremony on Sept. 27 and recognized during Michigan State's football game against Central Michigan on Sept. 29 at Spartan Stadium.
