MSU’s Hicks returns to crowded CB race

EAST LANSING – Maybe this is Michigan State’s week for good injury news — it started with word from coach Mark Dantonio that junior cornerback Darian Hicks was due back on campus Monday and will be able to start non-contact drills this week.

That doesn’t make up for last week’s loss of starting senior linebacker Ed Davis to a knee injury, but it’s a welcome surprise after Hicks was said as camp opened to be out as many as five weeks with mononucleosis.

“That will give us five solid guys (at corner),” MSU co-defensive coordinator Harlon Barnett said after Monday’s practice in stifling heat.
