EAST LANSING – Like an 8-year-old, alone in the backyard, fantasizing, Felton Davis and Michigan State’s other wide receivers can sometimes be found lined up a few yards from the end zone on the practice field, pretending.
“Last play of the game, Michigan State versus Michigan, on the 3-yard line,” they’ll say to themselves, Davis said. “And Brian (Lewerke) will throw it up and you’ve just got to catch it. Once you get into a real game, it’s really the same thing, but this time there are just people watching.”
“Fade game,” they call it. Nothing but fade routes, first to catch five.
