Michigan State, fresh off winning the Big Ten championship Saturday night in Indianapolis, will take on Alabama in one College Football Playoff semifinal New Year's Eve at Cowboys Stadium.
The other semifinal pits undefeated ACC champion Clemson against the No. 4 Sooners.
Alabama throttled Florida Saturday in the SEC title game in Atlanta. The Crimson Tide, led by former MSU coach Nick Saban, lost just one game this season, at Ole Miss.
Alabama and MSU last met in the 2011 Capital One Bowl. The Spartans fell, 49-7, in Orlando.
The two teams were scheduled to meet twice in the next two seasons, but Alabama cancelled the agreement back in 2013.
