With a medical background in infectious diseases, Michigan State University president Dr. Samuel Stanley holds a vital perspective on COVID-19.
On Wednesday, Stanley said he is not sure about the transmission risks associated with playing contact sports, particularly football. That is partly due to the lack of research and because football has been shut down since the coronavirus pandemic hit the U.S. hard in March.
“We would love to see data,” Stanley told reporters via a video conference call discussing MSU's Tuesday announcement of predominantly online classes for the fall semester.
