EAST LANSING – The next Tony Lippett for Michigan State will be Aaron Burbridge. Or Macgarrett Kings Jr. Or R.J. Shelton.
“Everybody thinks they can be that guy,” MSU receivers coach Terry Samuel said. “And I’d rather have them thinking they can be the guy than having to convince them they can be.”
And of course, the next Lippett — last season’s Big Ten Receiver of the Year and Connor Cook’s clear favorite target with 65 catches and 1,198 yards, more than double anyone else — may be nobody.
“We’re definitely gonna spread it around,” Kings said, which would be more like MSU’s offense during its Rose Bowl championship season of 2013.
