EAST LANSING – A legacy at Michigan State was assured for Darien Harris when he got off the ground Jan. 1, 2014, in Pasadena, Calif., combining with Kyler Elsworth and Shilique Calhoun on the three-way smack of Stanford fullback Ryan Hewitt that won the Rose Bowl.
He can stop playing right now and be remembered as one of Mark Dantonio's good guys — voted captain as a senior, embarking on a second degree in social science after getting his journalism degree in May. He was a Mary Gardner Scholar, one of the top-12 graduating seniors in the journalism school as nominated by faculty.
