Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio had a great Saturday evening and the Spartans didn’t even play a game.
Dantonio learned that the state’s top player, Detroit Cass Tech senior cornerback Kalon Gervin decided he was going to attend and play football at MSU, picking the Spartans over several other schools, including Oregon, Oklahoma, Alabama, Virginia Tech and Nebraska.
Gervin originally committed to Notre Dame, but de-committed and reopened his recruiting journey, taking a trip to Alabama this past summer, then to Nebraska a few weeks ago.
So, why MSU?
“It’s a home environment and the coaches really stayed on me hard, really wanted me to come there and play,” said Gervin Saturday night.
