MSU home run king Mike Eddington takes over at Grand Rapids JC

Mike Eddington, a former Grand Rapids Junior College baseball player who went on to break Michigan State University's home run record, has been hired to coach the GRCC baseball team.

Eddington played two seasons at GRJC for coach Tom Hofmann (1983-84), was part of the team that placed sixth in the Junior College World Series and was an honorable mention All-American.

Eddington transferred to Michigan State University, where he broke the Spartan home run record that was previously held by former Detroit Tigers star Kirk Gibson. Eddington hit 20 for the Spartans in 1984, a record that still stands today.
