EAST LANSING -- Sunday offered recovery for Mark Dantonio’s Michigan State football team, from more than three hours of smashing into Iowa Hawkeyes, then countless more celebrating what that exercise earned the Spartans.
Saturday’s 16-13 win over Iowa on a stretching touchdown from freshman LJ Scott delivered MSU’s ninth Big Ten championship, its third under Dantonio. And the Spartans didn’t need ESPN’s selection show Sunday to know it also delivered a berth in the second annual, four-team College Football Playoff.
“I think everybody celebrated,” Dantonio said of the pair of feats, both stated goals before this stirring season, “and tried to get a two-for-one in last night.
