MSU football defensive lineman Craig Evans and Montez Sweat leaving program for personal reason, effective immediately

Two defensive players for MSU, sophomore defensive lineman Craig Evans and sophomore defensive end Montez Sweat have left the team for personal reasons, per a statement made by head coach Mark Dantonio. The decision is effective immediately.

Sweat was suspended before in 2015 for unknown reasons. He only played in two games during the Spartan’s fall season.

Evans, on the other hand, played in all 14 games as a redshirt freshman in 2015. He recorded 21 tackles including 3.5 for loss. Evans was also named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team by BTN.com and ESPN.com.

Both players were redshirted in the 2014 season.
