EAST LANSING -- When Michigan State linebacker Chris Frey absorbed a helmet-to-helmet hit during Saturday’s loss to Michigan, one of the biggest critics of concussions in football took notice.
Chris Nowinski aired his issues via Twitter when Frey re-entered the game a few moments later, posting video from the ESPN broadcast of Frey getting blasted in the head by Michigan’s Devin Bush on a second-quarter punt.
“SHAMEFUL: MSU #23 can’t stand up after brutal (helmet-to-helmet) hit. Back in game in 2 minutes, no #concussion evaluation?” Nowinski tweeted, addressing it to the accounts of the Big Ten and the NCAA’s Sports Science Institute, along with the hashtag “#brains4brains.
