East Lansing — Jack Allen remembers the feeling heading back to Michigan State last season, just hours after the Spartans lost in their top-10 showdown with Oregon.
Michigan State, fresh off a 13-win season that included a victory in the Rose Bowl, went to the Northwest hoping to prove it could beat one of the nation's top teams on the road and cement its spot among college football's elite.
And for about two-and-a-half quarters things were going perfectly. The Spartans led the high-powered Ducks 27-18 in the third quarter and seemed to be clicking on all cylinders.
