Morten Andersen came to Michigan State in 1978 as a freshman who had played just one season of high school football. In fact, he’d only been in the United States for one year, after moving from Denmark.
But Andersen found success quickly, in a record-setting career at Michigan State. He then sustained that success through 24 NFL seasons, during which he set the league record for points scored.
Andersen will now earn the league’s highest honor, when he is inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday in Canton, Ohio.
In doing so, he will become just the third former Michigan State player to earn induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
