EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State guard/forward Miles Bridges has been named the Wayman Tisdale National Freshman of the Week, as announced by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) and CBS Sports on Tuesday. Bridges averaged 20.0 ppg, 10.0 rpg and 3.0 bpg last week, while shooting 55.9 percent from the floor in games vs. Purdue and Michigan.
Bridges set the MSU single-game freshman scoring record with 33 points vs. the Boilermakers, surpassing Scott Skiles’ 32-point performance vs. Ohio State in 1983. He followed up the record-breaking performance with his fourth double-double of the season in a win over Michigan, tallying 15 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, to go along with three steals.
