EAST LANSING -- Wide receiver was a bit of a misnomer for Michigan State's R.J. Shelton last season. Playmaker is a more accurate title.
Shelton had more kick returns (31) than catches (16) last season. He also had more rushing attempts (21) than catches.
For the rising junior, this spring is about learning even more of the Spartans' offense and trying to continue his role as the team's most versatile offensive player.
"Just knowing every position, being able to go anywhere in the offense, more of just trying to be a constant playmaker and just try to make this team even better than it was last year," Shelton said Thursday of his goals for spring practice.
