EAST LANSING -- The most wide-open position for Michigan State this fall may be punt returner, where three players split reps in 2017 and a fourth player with experience at the job returns from injury in 2018.
And as the Spartans spend fall camp searching for who will become their primary punt return man, they know what they're looking for most of all.
"You're going to choose the guy that's catching the ball clean," Michigan State wide receivers coach Terrance Samuel, who coaches returners, said. "He may not give you a lot of yards after the catch, but he's going to catch it.
