EAST LANSING - Joe Bachie was named Michigan State's team MVP last season - the first sophomore to earn the award in more than a decade.
The middle linebacker was voted one of three captains for this season, along with senior safety Khari Willis and redshirt junior quarterback Brian Lewerke.
Bachie is in just his second season as a starter and has spent less time in the program than his fellow captains. However, he takes his role seriously and has a strong opinion on what that involves.
"I don't think leading by example is a thing," Bachie said after practice Tuesday night.
