Michigan State's Nick Ward says left hand won't keep him out vs. Duke

WASHINGTON — Michigan State basketball’s primary missions against LSU was plastered on the walls of the Spartans’ hotel at Tom Izzo’s directive – cut out and rebound.

Nick Ward did just that and nearly paid a big price.

Ward took a hard fall on his surgically repaired left hand while boxing out the Tigers’ Naz Reid late in the second half of the Spartans’ 80-63 victory Friday night at Capital One Arena.

The 6-foot-9 junior forward landed on the floor with an audible smack that “scared the s**t out of me.” Ward laid on the ground writing in pain and clutching at his padded left hand, which he injured Feb.
