Michigan State's NFL draft streak extended to 78 straight years

The streak is still alive.

With center Brian Allen being selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the fourth round of the NFL draft on Saturday afternoon, Michigan State extended its streak of having at least one player drafted to 78 straight years. The 1940 NFL draft was the last time the Spartans didn't have a player selected and since then 14 U.S. Presidents have been elected and the Spartans have had 12 coaches.

Michigan State is one of only five schools that has had at least one player picked every year since the first common NFL draft in 1967, which was the result of the NFL-AFL merger.
