Michigan State's NCAA Tournament draw includes old friend, potential familiar foe

East Lansing — If it’s story lines you’re looking for, Michigan State’s opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament delivers.

It started Sunday night when the tournament bracket was revealed with the Spartans slotted as the No. 7 seed in the West Region, taking on No. 10 Davidson in the first round on Friday in Greenville, South Carolina.

That, alone, provided quite the story as Michigan State has now made the NCAA Tournament in 24 straight seasons, the second-longest active streak behind Kansas (32) and the third-longest overall behind Kansas and North Carolina (27).

It also is the 24th consecutive tournament for coach Tom Izzo, who has the longest active streak among coaches and is now tied with Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski overall.
