Michigan State’s Nairn ‘doubtful’ for UM showdown

East Lansing — Michigan State sophomore guard Lourawls “Tum Tum” Nairn Jr. shot for the first time on Monday and will take steps this week to try and get back in the lineup.

The Spartans point guard has been suffering from plantar fasciitis and has missed the last five games, but he has had the walking boot removed from his right foot and will attempt to get ready for Saturday’s matchup with Michigan.

However, coach Tom Izzo said on Tuesday that the chances of Nairn returning are still long.

“Doubtful at best,” Izzo said at his weekly news conference.
