Michigan State safety Khari Willis and Michigan linebacker Noah Furbush were named semifinalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy, it was announced Wednesday.
The two are among 180 semifinalists for the award, which is presented annually to college football's top scholar-athlete.
A group of 12 to 14 finalists will be named on Oct. 31 and each will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship. They will also travel to New York for the National Football Foundation's awards dinner on Dec. 4 when a winner will be named and have their scholarship increased to $25,000.
Each school is limited to one nominee and candidates must be a senior or graduate student in their final year of eligibility.
