EAST LANSING - Felton Davis felt his dream starting to fade.
Two seasons after arriving at Michigan State with high expectations, the wide receiver had just 14 total catches.
Reaching the NFL didn't seem realistic anymore.
"It just feels like it just starts to fall away from you," Davis said.
There was also a need to address his existence off the field as Davis sought more fulfillment from life. He leaned on his parents and confided in a pair of teammates - defensive tackle Raequan Williams and safety Khari Willis.
"Me and Khari had a conversation in the car, late night after he dropped me off," Davis recalled.
