EAST LANSING — Cassius Winston spent much of Tuesday’s practice with Michigan State’s freshmen.
It was a test by coach Tom Izzo to see what his junior point guard could do as a leader, as well as giving rookie Foster Loyer a chance to run with the first team. But it also was somewhat of a midterm exam — days after finals and classes ended — for Izzo’s other freshmen to show what they have learned.
