The senior center and team co-captain on Wednesday was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy - also referred to as the "Academic Heisman" - which the National Football Foundation awards annually to the country's top scholar-athlete.
Allen, a three-year starter, two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and economics major with a 3.24 GPA, is one of 71 semifinalists from FBS and one of 181 total across all levels of college football.
