In a rare year, Michigan State and Michigan will face off just once in the regular basketball season. The Spartans and Wolverines are so used to playing twice, but the Big Ten is loaded with 14 teams now and it’s not possible to play every team two times. The Spartans play Michigan, Maryland and Wisconsin, to name a few, just once this year, making for an odd season.
Fans of both teams are missing out on two huge rivalry games, but this Saturday afternoon matchup will be so competitive that it won’t matter if they match up again in the Big Ten Tournament.
