Down by 10 points at one instant in the first half, it looked as if Michigan State was going to suffer another disappointing home loss in Big Ten play. A late surge to end the first half was exactly what the Spartans needed as they came out firing in the second half, at one point shooting 70 percent from the field.
Michigan State showed just why it was ranked No. 8 coming into the week, taking down the Hoosiers 88-69.
After losing by one point to Purdue on the road Tuesday despite a 16-point comeback, Michigan State needed a strong showing at the Breslin Center on Valentine’s Day and the Spartans did just that, stretching the lead out to 20 in the second half.
