Michigan State unplugs and looks inward as it steps into March Madness spotlight

EAST LANSING - Miles Bridges hasn't sent out a Tweet in nearly two months.

A space once filled with highlight videos, jokes, inspiration and more has gone dark since mid-January. Same goes for Cassius Winston, another former frequent Twitter user who has logged off.

It isn't a coincidence that nearly every member of the Michigan State basketball team went silent online at the same time. And the silence isn't in response to their coach's constant grips about the social media service.

Michigan State made a collective decision in a January team meeting in to shut down their Twitter feeds, with the goal of maintaining focus at a critical time of the year and not being distracted by off-court issues.
