East Lansing — Michigan State was glad to be back at home on Friday night.
The Breslin Center provided the perfect place for the Spartans to forget the blowout loss at Purdue on Sunday, and on the way to a 67-55 victory over Wisconsin, the home crowd got to appreciate Cassius Winston handing out his 817th career assist, breaking the Big Ten and program record established by Mateen Cleaves.
Cleaves was on hand Friday and joined in the crowd giving Winston a standing ovation.
“Cash, congratulations,” Cleaves said after the game, handing Winston a commemorative ball.
