It appears Michigan State may be missing out on two of its top late recruiting targets in less than 24 hours.
Sports columnist Loren Tate of the Champaign News-Gazette reported Wednesday that Illinois Mr. Basketball Mark Smith will announce he intends to play for the Illini this fall. Tate, without citing any sources, wrote “word of Smith’s choice spread through Edwardsville (Illinois) and is the hottest item in collegiate basketball today.”
Four-star combo guard Smith will announce his decision at 7 p.m. ET Wednesday at Edwardsville High. He reportedly is choosing between MSU, Illinois, Ohio State, Missouri and a number of other late high-major suitors that included Kentucky and Duke.
