Michigan State survives mistakes, rallies past Utah State, 38-31

EAST LANSING – Brian Lewerke nearly gave the game away.

Until he snatched it back in a calm, cool manner Michigan State teammates and fans have come to expect.

Even though the upset alert was blaring loudly from Spartan Stadium around the college football world Friday night.

Everything the 12th-ranked Spartans feared could go wrong did. Turnovers and missed scoring chances on offense and penalties on both sides of the ball allowed Utah State to stay in the game late.
